"Idli Kadai" Mega Blockbuster Success: Dhanush Celebrates with Family and Villagers

Tamil cinema lovers have a new reason to cheer as "Idli Kadai," the fourth directorial venture of popular actor Dhanush, has taken the box office by storm since its release on October 1. This rural drama has captured the hearts of audiences, grossing over Rs 35 crore in just four days, marking a major milestone for the film and its team.

In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and celebration, Dhanush recently visited his ancestral deity's temple, the Karuppasamy Temple, located in Shankarapuram village near Bodinayakkanur in Theni district. This visit was not just a personal occasion but a special event shared with his family, including his brother and acclaimed director Selvaraghavan, his parents Kasthuriraja and Vijayalakshmi, and his sons Linga and Yatra.

Prior to the film's release, Dhanush and his family had worshipped at the Kasthuri Amman temple near Andipatti, seeking blessings for the movie. While that visit was more private, the recent temple appearance was warm and engaging; Dhanush spent nearly half an hour interacting with the villagers, taking photos, and sharing joyous moments with his fans.

Following the darshan, Dhanush and his family partook in a special lunch under an open pavilion with the villagers, symbolizing a beautiful bond between the star, his roots, and the community that inspired the movie. "Idli Kadai" is notably inspired by real events from Shankarapuram, blended with local legends, and the film was largely shot in this very hometown, making the celebration deeply personal and significant.

The movie features a stellar cast including Arun Vijay, Nithya Menen, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Prakash Raj, and Shalini Pandey, with music scored by GV Prakash Kumar, further adding to its rural authenticity and appeal.

Dhanush’s dual role as both director and lead actor has evidently resonated well with the audience, marking "Idli Kadai" as a mega blockbuster in Tamil cinema, and reinforcing Dhanush’s stature not only as a gifted actor but also as a visionary filmmaker who remains connected to his roots.

This celebration at the temple and the film's success are reflective of the deep ties that filmmakers often maintain with their hometowns, inspiring stories that resonate across the diverse audience spectrum. As "Idli Kadai" continues its theatrical run, fans and critics alike are keeping a close eye on this rising gem in Tamil cinema.
