Salman Khan Takes a Dig at A.R. Murugadoss’ New Film Madharaasi After Sikandar's Failure

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, known for his blockbuster hits and massive fan following, recently sparked a media buzz with a sharp and witty response to filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss.

This came after Murugadoss, the director of Salman’s film Sikandar, accused the superstar of arriving late on the sets, which he claimed affected the shooting schedule and contributed to the film's downfall.

  • Sikandar, released earlier this year starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, was highly anticipated but unfortunately turned out to be a box office failure, receiving poor reviews from critics and audiences alike.

  • Director A.R. Murugadoss had publicly mentioned that working with Salman was challenging as the actor reportedly used to join the shoots only at around 8 PM, meaning that day scenes often had to be shot at night, complicating the production process.

  • In a recent episode of Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan addressed these allegations with a mix of humor and sarcasm. He pointed out that despite his reported late arrivals on the set of Sikandar, Murugadoss himself had recently released a film titled Madharaasi which was also a big film but did not perform well at the box office.

  • Salman sarcastically remarked that Madharaasi was a “much bigger blockbuster” than Sikandar, clearly taking a jab at the commercial failure of Murugadoss’ new film. He also referred to the claim about his late arrivals, stating he had injuries ("his ribs were broken") which caused delays.

  • The film Madharaasi, directed by A.R. Murugadoss and starring South Indian stars Shivakarthikeyan and Vidyut Jammwal, released on September 5, 2025, with a hefty budget of around ₹200 crore but earned only about ₹100 crore, making it a commercial flop.

  • Salman also spoke about producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s involvement in both films, mentioning how Nadiadwala initially worked with Murugadoss but later shifted focus, while Murugadoss moved back to South Indian cinema.

  • This exchange has since become viral on social media, with fans and followers debating the director-actor dynamics and film performances.

Salman Khan’s remarks highlight the ongoing tension and finger-pointing following the failure of Sikandar, while also pointing to the similar fate of Madharaasi. This instance reflects the tough realities of the film industry, where box office success and timely collaboration are key but often hard to achieve.
